Helping to drive economic value for Warwickshire
Sanna Lone, Finance Analyst, has a vital role to play in the accounting operations at Warwickshire Property & Development Group (WPDG) to ensure the business remains on track to meet the financial targets in its business plan.
In this blog, she reflects on her move from Sweden to Warwickshire and the importance of her role in helping the business to deliver residential schemes and commercial developments as well as overseeing tenancy transactions on behalf of Warwickshire County Council.
Sanna joined WPDG in 2023. After completing a degree in accounting and auditing in her home country, she secured a role as a finance assistant for two years before becoming an accountant at Telair International in Lund, Sweden. Sanna stayed there for three years before meeting her husband, Irfan, when she then moved to Warwickshire to be with him.
I feel fortunate that, through my role at WPDG, I play a part in being part of an organisation that is contributing to the economy of where I live.
Being rooted in the community, the projects that we are involved in are not just numbers on a spreadsheet – we are helping to provide homes, businesses, and communities that flourish because of the projects we work on.
My role as Finance Analyst weaves together two worlds. One is tenancy management, where I oversee the property management system on behalf of Warwickshire County Council. By taking on the invoicing for its rental portfolio, we’ve been able to reduce debt and strengthen the financial foundation that underpins vital services across the county.
The other side of my work lies in supporting our development projects – from raising purchase orders and invoices to tracking spend and ensuring every investment is managed with care.
The momentum has been remarkable. When I first joined, WPDG was managing fewer projects – now, our schemes are buzzing with activity.
One highlight has been our commercial development at Sucham Park in Southam, a project that has blossomed into a thriving hub with six tenants now fully settled in.
I manage the invoicing for this site, ensuring everything flows smoothly behind the scenes.
It is great to see the park alive with businesses, jobs, and potential – which proves how financial management can help turn ambition into reality.
Beyond day-to-day operations, I prepare WPDG’s monthly management accounts, offering insights that guide decisions and set our direction.
I also work closely with Warwickshire County Council and local suppliers, measuring our performance and supporting our commitment to sourcing locally wherever possible.
These efforts might seem like fine details, but together they help secure a lasting legacy so that projects are not only financially sound today but are sustainable in the future.
What I love most is knowing that my role feeds into WPDG’s wider mission to drive economic value for Warwickshire. Through analysis, regular reporting and focusing on sustainability, I help ensure that the work we do creates communities and boosts the local economy which is really rewarding.
